I just want to scream… FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Coke Studio Season Four starts from 22nd of May 2011. Here is what Coke Studio say about season four:

“Coke Studio embarks on its fourth season with a heightened awareness of the invisible depths of the musical foundations upon which it stands. Expanding on the experiences of the previous three seasons, Coke Studio now continues along the path of self-discovery with a fresh perspective on the scale of diversity – of music, poetry, cultures and languages – that exist in Pakistan.

In Season 4 the Coke Studio journey is rich and varied. It takes us deeper into the realm of classical music – introducing promising new talent, highlighting branches of music that have evolved from the classical root and presenting demonstrations of the ancient art form by universally acknowledged maestros. Coke Studio will also be showcasing styles of music that are uncommon yet exceptional and therefore, very precious. In keeping with the Coke Studio tradition of expanding the boundaries of mainstream listening, there is the inclusion of regional language songs. Making valuable additions to the country’s known talent pool, Coke Studio also introduces some gifted, yet virtually unknown singers that have earned a place on this platform due to their skill and talent alone. And providing perfect balance to the musical spectrum of this season, Coke Studio continues to acknowledge the importance of contemporary music via fusion and cross-genre collaboration numbers – featuring pop singers, a diverse range of bands and a house-band that combines the best of eastern and western instrumentation.”

and here is the universal promo of Coke Studio:

Now the main question is not answered by Coke Studio Management, Which artists are performing in this season? Some rumors are that there will Shankar Mahadevan, Raghu Dixit, Kailash Kher, Wadali Bros, Sabri Bros, Shaan, Papon, Sanjeev T, KK. As I see this list includes only one Pakistani artists so I am assuming it wrong list. Some are mentioning that there will be Arif Lohar, Rabbi Shergil and Saeen Zahoor, but this is not confirmed. I will update you guys whenever I will have any inside news about the list. Otherwise 22nd is not so far and as traditions says, it is always worth waiting…

Thy love renders thee impatient and disturbed.

With such sincerity has thou placed thy head at her feet that thou art oblivious to the world.

When in the eyes of thy beloved riches count not, gold and dust are as one to thee.

Thou sayest that she dwelleth in thine eyes—if they be closed, she is in thy mind.

If she demands thy life, thou dost place it in her hand; if she places a sword upon thy head, thou holdest it forward.

When earthly love produces such confusion and such obedience demands, dost thou wonder if travelers of the road of God remain engulfed in the Ocean of Reality?

In the remembrance of their Friend they have turned their backs upon the world; they are so fascinated by the Cup-bearer that they have spilled the wine.

No medicine can cure them, for no one has knowledge of their pains.

With their cries of longing do they root up a mountain; with their sighs they dismember a kingdom.

Such is their weeping at dawn that the tears wash the sand of sleep from their eyes. Night and day are they immersed in the sea of love; so distracted are they that they know not night from day.

So enamored are they of the beauty of the Painter that they care not for the beauty of His designs.

He drinks of the pure wine of Unity who is forgetful of both this world and the next.

I was searching for this show for ages now and finally I have it and finished it in one day. Just love the way how ShoMan (Shoaib Mansoor) works. For some of you who watched it on PTV and enjoyed it in 1999, this would be a gift to them. I am going to upload all episodes on youtube. Just added titles, here is the glimpse of what I am talking about.

For those who never got a chance to watch it, you are lucky now ;) and here is some information about the show as found on wikipedia

Gulls & Guys was a documentary cum travel guide reality show directed by Shoaib Mansoor. The programme was telecasted every Saturday on PTV in 1999. The show was sponsored by John Player Gold Leaf.

The concept

The main idea behind the serial was the exploration of the world. It was a travelogue concerning six of the 17 countries, which were on the stopover list of Discovery. Discovery was a Gold Leaf sponsored yacht, which was to sail through 17 countries in just 170 days. It’s voyage, which was more commonly known as the Voyage of Discovery, was the brainchild of British American Tobacco and is till now the biggest international promotion undertaken by any foreign company in Pakistan. This 80ft tall Maxi racing yacht, captained by Joe Outred, on June 18 1999, set out on its mission and had Karachi as its 12th destination. The arrival of Discovery was celebrated, in Pakistan, with a grand finale of Gulls & Guys held at the Marina Club, Karachi.

The actual show

The show starred well-known showbiz figures in Pakistan including Junaid Jamshed, Salman Ahmad, Fakhr-e-Alam, Captain Abdullah Mahmood, Adnan Siddiqui and Shehryar Jehangir. Each celebrity was assigned one global destination. The show mostly included European cities of London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Athens with the exception of one person sent to Cairo. After reaching their assigned country, the celebrities were then ordered to produce and host their own travelogs in two part episode which were then telecasted each week. Besides this they were also required to earn some money (equivalent to a day’s meal) on their own, learn to cook the traditional or national food of their destined country and learn to count from zero to ten and sing a song in their respective country’s native language. After the end of the series a finale show was to be held on June 18 1999, the same day the Discovery were to reach Karachi. In the finale each participant were to be graded based upon the quality of their travelogs, the food they were to cook and, the counting of numerals and singing a song in their native language live in the finale show. Participant with the most aggregate points were to win.

Assigned destinations

Hello, I am back with translation of Turkish song of Zeb & Haniya “Nazaar Eyle” from 4th episode of Coke Studio. Enjoy.. Do Comment ;)
Turkish
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
Yüce Hakan sefere gitmiş, bilge Hatun dokuz doğurmuş
Dokuz oğlan beş yaşına gelmiş, dokuzu birden kılıç kuşanmış
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
Sırma saçlı kırk güzel gelmiş, levent boylu kırk yiğide varmış
Düğün dernek kırk gece sürmüş, kırk deve kırk koyun kurban kesilmiş
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
Avucuma bir kuş konmuş, biri tutmuş kanadın yolmuş
Biri kesmiş öteki yemiş, garip Barış hani bana demiş
Nazar eyle, nazar eyle, nazar eyle, gel yanıma pazar eyle
English
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping
The Supreme Khan was away for war, Bilge Khatun gave birth to nine sons
The nine sons grew 5 years old and all of them got armed with swords
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping
Forty golden-haired beauties got married to forty tall heroes
The wedding lasted for forty days; forty camels and forty sheep were butchered
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping
A bird landed in my palm, someone broke its wings
Someone cut it and another one ate it, and Barış said what is left for me?
Look at me, look at me, come by me and do shopping

O mian, Allah mian…

O God, my Lord

(repeat)

Russ ma russan ghoryo

Even if you are upset with me, I am still willing to lay down my life for you

Chudd raana raida-ee

My lord, speak to me once again

Lapay tij latif chay, kamil khachaie

My lord, forgive your Latif for all his faults and mistakes

Oooooo kar maaf madai

Forgive all the mistakes

Ta sodha sukhiyani theeyaanm mian

I will only be at peace when my Lord will reciprocate my love

O Allah, kar maaf madai

My lord, forgive all my faults

Waee (Vai)

Ao rana ruh raat tunjhi chaangul khay chandan chariyaan

My lord, stay with me tonight and I’ll make sure that the Beast (camel) you ride is taken care of as well

Raatiyaan deehaan rooh-a mein tann tunhinjhi taat

My lips move all the time remembering you, be it day or night

Waithi nit niharyaan

I sit, gazing into the distance waiting for your return

Acheen jay pirbhaat

Waiting till the wee hours of the morning

Mookhay aeen mehndra waee tuhjhi waat

It is only the song of your remembrance (waee) that I have on my lips, my Lord

Adyun, Abdul Latif chaee daatar deedum daat

O sisters, the Lord will be forgiving and will shower his blessings on Latif
